Just a Note

I needed a card for my 9-year old grandson. He's in 4th grade and loves Legos.

I used the Notebook Paper embossing folder by Darice and ran some light blue ink over the lines. I die cut a Lego figure from some paper I had and attached it with dimensionals.

Of course, I had to make a matching envelope with "notebook" paper from a Mambi pad.

He loves receiving snail mail, so this will be a nice surprise!

Flowers and Bling

I have spent the last few days reorganizing my supplies, and I went through my "inspiration" folder. This card is based on one I received and wanted to recreate.

I drew the lines and stamped with a small dot. I used my Sharpie markers on rhinestone gems to match my flowers.

This would also be cute using a snowflake theme.

It's a Chicken!

I needed a chicken-themed thank you card. I don't have the "rustic" look in my stash, so I used what I had.

The chicken was made with heart dies. The nose is a banner die with Glossy Accents. The chicken, "thank you" and heart are attached with dimensionals. I don't have anything chicken wire, but I thought my Honeycomb embossing folder mimicked it well enough. I distressed the edges and added the brown gingham ribbon and bow.

There are several versions of chicken cards on Pinterest.

Thanks

I'm using Lawn Fawn's A Birdie Told Me stamp set and coordinating die again. I obviously love this set!

The base is white cardstock, and the black panel was stamped with Champagne VersaMark for a subtle background. Then I used bright colors for the talk bubbles, all embossed with white embossing powder.

Thanks to Jennifer McGuire for this card idea.

Hot Air Balloons

I used Lawn Fawn's Blue Skies stamp set and coordinating die set. I love the Lawn Fawn line--they have a lot of stamp/die sets.

The kraft cardstock is 4x4. I used the die to cut a cloud out of the blue paper and placed white behind it. I stamped the balloon with black and used the die from the set. The "thanks" stamp is also from the set, which I heat embossed with white powder.

Merry Christmas to all!

Glitter & Snowflakes

I used navy blue for the cardstock base and stamped a white panel with snowflakes. The oversized tag was inked with Dusty Concord, Broken China and Tumbled Glass distress ink. I covered the tag with Glue N' Seal, then sprinkled it with Clear Rock Candy dry glitter. I used three sizes of snowflake stamps on top of the glitter in various shades of blue. I added a navy blue bow and the thank you stamp from Avery Elle Oh Happy Day set. I stamped it in Turquoise pigment ink by Color Box and heat embossed with clear powder. It is attached with dimensionals.

The clear glitter is beautiful! And the dry glitter by Tim Holtz is easy to work with--not nearly as messy as other glitters.

Talk Bubbles

I love the Lawn Fawn stamp and die sets. I tried to use every stamp from the A Birdie Told Me set!

I used navy blue and lime green on kraft cardstock. I'm pretty sure lime green goes with everything, and this ribbon almost glows in the dark! It's cloudy and raining here today...that must be the reason I chose electric lime green.

Some stamping, heat embossing, one die cut and some ribbon. I used dimensionals on the green talk bubble.

Cheery Thank You

I've put away my Christmas paper for the year, and today I'm using pink and yellow. This is one of my favorite combinations for bright and cheery.

I've added a satin ribbon with three pink brads. My Lawn Fawn stamps and die make the banner, which was heat embossed with white.

Gingerbread Man Christmas Card

Red and white -- one of my favorite color combinations. These teeny tiny cookie cutters are so cute! Two embossing folders, some ribbon and it's done!

Next up...thank you cards.

Christmas Card

Some days I don't get posts on my blog...I generally post Monday through Friday on Facebook. You can view my page if you don't have a Facebook login.  facebook.com/ACreativeCook

Today's card has a dark purple background panel embossed with Wood Grain. Some triangle die cuts make up the tree. I used Stickles on the star and scalloped edge for a little sparkle.

I have another Christmas card to share tomorrow and then I'll be working on other occasions.

Gift Card Holder

It has been a busy week! I'm making gift card holders, both special orders and for myself. There are so many variations, and I like that I can make different cards for everyone.

I've seen several variations of this card. I love red, white and silver.

The gift card is tucked in the pocket and there's plenty of room to sign it. And this one needed a silver envelope.

A Bright Thank You

I was busy last week with some custom orders and Christmas cards. I decided to do bright pink and yellow today and accidentally created a nice effect with the background.

I wanted to do tone-on-tone, adding a die cut to my background panel and then running it through my "Thank You" Cuttlebug folder. The embossing was too busy and my die cut wasn't showing very well. I ran it through "Swiss Dots," thinking it would flatten the previous embossing. Here's where the accidental creation comes in...it did somewhat flatten the previous embossing and I thought it was interesting.

The photo doesn't exactly show the subtlety of the first embossing, but you can see the dots and part of the die cut (the cursive "thank").

I added a 3 layer butterfly with pink Liquid Pearls on the body. I love how it turned out and the brightness of the colors!

Silver Ornaments Card

I love this die from Impression Obsession! I used it with patterned paper, and now I'm using it with aluminum foil. I think the color combination is stunning.

I finished it off with narrow red ribbon on a white background panel with my favorite embossing folder (Swiss Dots) and some stripes.

Reindeer Card

I was busy last week making Christmas cards for an Open House/Craft Fair. This reindeer card with the red gem on his nose is always popular.

Now...to get these Christmas cards listed at my online store!

Christmas Ornaments Card

I love this die by Impression Obsession! These ornaments use more vintage color patterned paper by Authentique, and I've done some with traditional red and green. I'm mass-producing this style today.

Sympathy Card

I made this sympathy card for my friend who lost her mother. This embossing folder is versatile -- I had recently used it for a birthday card. I love the white on white on white elegance of the card.

The simple sentiment inside was perfect.

Turkey Card

I was reminded of the years in elementary school when we would trace our hands to draw turkeys. I think these ovals make a cuter turkey :)  I distressed the edges of the "feathers" and added googly eyes.

It's a 5x5 card and worth the extra 20¢ to mail this cute card!

Masculine Birthday Card

I made this card using Tim Holtz products -- Distress Ink and stamps for the background.

I love how it turned out!

Flowers in Window Box

I was inspired to create a window frame and window box to hold flowers. This card went with a flowering plant I gave as a housewarming gift.

I like the pink gingham roman shade and patterned flowers.

Gift Tags

Today I made a gift tag holder. The box is made from green card stock and I cut tags to fit the two sides. I added a cardstock handle and buttons with twine.

I included 15 gift tags -- it would hold more. I used three shapes and sizes and they are all unique.

I could do a less time-consuming version by using my Cricut and making one or two styles of tags.

Card and Gift Box

I made an 8x8x2" gift box. The first photo shows the inside of the lid and box; the second is the box with the lid on.

I then made a birthday card to match. I used solid purple and the same paper as the lid in a quilt pattern.

The white card base is 5-1/2" square. I added some small purple brads along the bottom and a banner for the sentiment.

Get Well

I sent this colorful and glittery card to a friend. Starting with a white card base, I incorporated her favorite color, mimicked bandages and added hearts. I used my Wink of Stella brush pen on the hearts. I do love that pen!

Grateful

I used a herringbone pattern again for the background. I wanted to use several of the Happy Harvest papers for the final day of "Happy Harvest Week."

A simple banner die with "grateful" stamped and embossed is added to the front on dimensionals.

Butterfly Wreath

I wanted to make a fall wreath with the cute Happy Harvest papers. I used butterfly die cuts from Memory Box -- Isabella Butterfly is the solid shape, and Pippi Butterfly is the open shape. I did some filling in with the bodies from the dies and some holly berries from a Christmas die set.

This deep red card is 5½" x 5½" and has layers upon layers. The photograph doesn't do it justice :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

More Happy Harvest paper from Doodlebug Designs. Difficult to decide which paper and which side to use.

A Martha Stewart punch, some brown ribbon and two gold brads. Super quick!

Happy Harvest Owls

There is turquoise in some of the Happy Harvest paper. It is beautiful with the browns, oranges and yellows. And with little owls on it.

I stamped leaves with VersaMark for the background. I used the Mini 8 (scallop), some twine and a button. Very quick and easy.

Fall Wreath

Doodlebug Designs' Happy Harvest paper has warm and vibrant colors. Today I used the "back" (plainer) side and some solid cardstock to make the wreath.

I used the clear Wink of Stella glitter brush on the "Family" stamp for just a little sparkle. And how cute is the gingham bow!

Just because...

I enjoy making cards for any occasion or no occasion. I'm ending RAK Week with hearts. A simple card -- uses two circle punches and one heart punch, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder and a corner rounder. I used dimensionals under the panel, the circles and the hearts. The hearts were finished off with Glossy Accents.

So cute! And I have already dropped it in the mail this morning.

Since it's November, next week I'll be using Happy Harvest paper from Doodlebug Designs.

Distressed Card

I used Tim Holtz' stamps, distress ink and embossing powder.

I'm dropping this in the mail today -- to someone very artistic and creative.

Jar of Leaves

I used my jar die again today -- this time it has leaves in it. And an acorn with a little sparkle. I used the clear Wink of Stella brush pen on the top part. I colored some narrow white ribbon with my Copic marker.

Someone will be receiving this in the mail soon :)

After-dinner Mints

Last night was my monthly dinner with two long-time (notice I didn't say "old") friends. We don't go to fancy places and eat expensive meals. We get together for dinner, which is a good excuse to gab and laugh.

I took after-dinner mints. A simple tag, embossed and folded. The round tags hold it shut. A quick and easy way to share Andes mints.

RAK Week

My theme this week is Random Act of Kindness (RAK). I'll be posting cards that I make and mail for no special occasion.

I made the herringbone background out of five patterned papers from the Oxford pack by BasicGrey. The butterflies are die cut using Memory Box dies and coordinating solids from the pack.

This card could look totally different depending on the paper and embellishments. Hmm...I think I'll make another one :)

More Pink!

Two more pink cards to end the week.

I had made a bikini for a card sometime ago. For this one, I added some "lace" and wider straps.

Again, my heartfelt thanks to my awesome family and friends for sponsoring me!

Iris Folding

A fun technique! There are so many shapes to choose from -- or you can create your own. The foil paper gives it an elegant look.

Musical Star

I created this card for a customer to give to a band member. The black Core'dinations panel was embossed with the Cuttlebug Allegro folder and distressed, revealing blue. I made lots of stars with Nestabilities. I added Glossy Accents to the small blue and orange star and the brad in the middle of the small yellow star. I used dimensionals on the middle star and thicker dimensionals on the top star.

This colorful card needed a bright green coordinating envelope.

Pink and More Pink

I love pink! Imagine how much I loved making pink cards with pink (and sometimes more pink). I am so appreciative of my wonderful family and friends who sponsored me in my walk for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

I found inspiration for my cards everywhere. I love seeing the NFL players wearing pink socks, shoes, wristbands, etc. There is much support for this cause during the month of October.

I'll post more of the thank you cards later this week.

Fun with Patterned Paper

This technique uses narrow strips of paper -- a good use for scraps. I cut strips 3/4" wide, adhered them, and then cut them in alternating 1/2" and 5/8" strips. I then adhered them again in a zig-zag pattern.

The photo below is a close up shot showing the different strips.

Love the look!

Making Strides

I was honored to participate in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk yesterday. It was a warm and beautiful day (once the sun rose) and perfect for this worthy cause.

Fall Colors and Leaves

I did a lot of distressing on this card. The tag is popped up off the background. The acorn is popped up off the tag and covered with Glossy Accents.
